Colleague Joris Voorhuis recently wrote an insightful article on data storage in the US for the magazine Bestuur Rendement.

Even if you just use Dropbox or Mailchimp, for example, you need to take action. This is because your data is then stored on servers in the US and this is by a
ruling by the highest European court violates the AVG.
