In this role, you will advise, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, businesses and stakeholders facing challenging circumstances. You will assist organisations with complex insolvency law issues, combining legal expertise with strategic insight. As a Restructuring & Insolvency Solicitor at Marxman Advocaten, you will advise and support companies facing difficult times. Together with multidisciplinary partners (e.g. business consultants, valuers, tax specialists), you will analyse possible scenarios to achieve restructuring. Based on this analysis and forecasts, you will manage stakeholder relations and liaise as necessary with parties such as the Tax and Customs Administration, the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) and financial institutions.
You will also provide advice on insolvency law, directors’ liability and/or issues relating to financing and security.

At Marxman, you can undertake a challenging student placement where you can discover all aspects of the legal profession. This includes attending court hearings and meetings, conducting research into legal issues to inform our advice to clients, and drafting not only memos but also correspondence and court documents.
As a student trainee, you are an enthusiastic university law student in the final stages of your law degree, with an interest in commercial law. You enjoy working independently and are not afraid to take responsibility and show initiative. You are available full-time for two months.
At Marxman Advocaten, you’ll work alongside friendly and enthusiastic colleagues in a challenging and dynamic environment. During this student placement, you’ll gain a good insight into the legal profession and our firm. We also offer you plenty of opportunities for further development.
As a student trainee at Marxman, you’ll be involved in a wide range of tasks, so you’ll quickly discover which areas of law suit you best and what the work actually involves in each area. In addition, during your student placement, you’ll have a trainee solicitor as your ‘placement buddy’, whom you can turn to with any questions you may have.
At Marxman, as well as gaining experience in the legal aspects of the legal profession, you’ll also get to know the commercial side of the work. You’ll gain a full insight into the world of entrepreneurs.
